When you think of camping, some of the things that come of mind are eating hot dogs and sleeping in a sleeping bag, right? In most cases, such components of a camping trip are standard, but not in “glamping,” which is a glamorous version of camping.
When people glamp, the sleeping bag may be replaced by luxury-count sheets and the hot chocolate may be replaced by champagne. Glamping combines some of the traditional pleasures of camping such as stargazing and making s’mores with the comforts of a luxury hotel.
The AKA Central Park offers guests an outdoor bedroom on the terrace outside its penthouse. For $2,000 per night, you can sleep in a queen-size bed under the stars. Amenities include a fireplace and flat-screen TV as well as a telescope and ingredients for making s’mores. The setup provides a sense of privacy and solitude, even though it is in a city of millions.
Another hotel in New York City, the Affinia Gardens, offers a patio suite starting at $300 per night. Guests can choose options ranging from dinner outside to a bed made up on the patio in a tent.
