TACO is planning educational webinars in the coming weeks that provide association members with important updates on state legislation as well as training for Certified Pool Operators (CPOs), according to a press release.

The Legislative Update session with TACO lobbyist Ron Hinkle and TACO CEO Brian Schaeffer is scheduled for 10 a.m. (CT) Wednesday, Sept. 13.

A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) class taught by Terry Munoz is scheduled for Oct. 17-18, beginning at 9 a.m. (CT) each day.

“We’re supplementing the education we provide in our spring meeting and trade show with online seminars throughout the year and we find this approach to be quite popular and effective for our members,” Schaeffer said.

TACO’s most recent webinar took place Aug. 1, when the association invited Will DeRuve, of Livingston Energy Group, to update TACO members on the latest trends involving electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging stations.

DeRuve noted that there are more than 200,000 electric vehicles in Texas and that EV registrations in the Lone Star State have jumped 64% since 2022.

He added that state and local utility programs provide financial incentives to help private parks cover the cost of installing EV charging stations, which he said can create revenue-generating opportunities for parks in addition to broadening their customer base and increasing their park’s allure as a destination.

Texas in 2022 was also a leader in solar power installations, surpassing California, DeRuve said, adding that wind and solar power support 35% of the Texas power grid.
