On April 28, the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) will host an eight-hour RV technician training session in partnership with the RV Technical Institute in Conroe, Texas. The course will take place the day before TACO’s Spring Meeting and Trade Show, which is scheduled for April 29 and April 30, according to a press release.

“This is a great opportunity for campground operators to learn more about the technical aspects of RVs as we kick off our annual Campground Owners Meeting and Trade Show,” said TACO’s CEO Brian Schaeffer. “This class will help operators better assist their customers, expand their educational opportunities, and provide a better overall camping experience.”

RV Technical Institute Director of Education Bill Stewart will be guiding this hands-on course, which will cover a variety of topics, including:

Basic electricity testing & safety wattage, voltage and amperage

Tripping breakers on a 30-amp camper, replacing fuses, where the circuit breakers are located

How to hook up cable TV, how to turn off the antenna amplifier, Wi-Fi, satellite signal and set up

What a generator ATO switch is and what happens when it goes bad

Basic water systems

LP system

HVAC, water heater, furnace trouble and refrigerator troubleshooting quick checks

Slide room and awning fixes

Troubleshooting inoperable jacks and landing gear

Chassis, hydraulics and towing

“Park operators are often the first people to tend to a guest experiencing technical difficulties with their RV,” said RV Technical Institute Executive Director Curt Hemmeler. “This session will teach the basics from RVTI’s gold standard RV technician training curriculum and will help get guests safely back on the road and enhance campground customer service.”

The RV Technical Institute held a similar training session earlier this year in conjunction with the Carolinas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds and the RV Women’s Alliance.
