Virginia Beach has entertainment to suit a wide range of tastes. In May, thrill seekers will love an event involving monster truck races, while foodies will adore a strawberry celebration at the local farmers’ market. There is something here for everyone!
Monsters on the Beach
On May 17 to 19, the oceanfront will be filled with high-octane excitement as big trucks race over sand dunes at Monsters on the Beach. Bleachers will be set up on the boardwalk for spectators who come from miles around to watch the loud, fast competitions. Adding to the fun, the shows include a performance from Megasaurus – a 30-foot tall robotic dinosaur.
Ticket prices for the races range from $20 to $50. The $20 tickets are available with advance purchase.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Friday, noon and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. The location is the beachfront between 1st and 10thStreets.
Don’t miss the annual Strawberry Jamboree at the farmers’ market on May 18. In addition to the luscious fruit, the event will feature artisans, live music, children’s activities and educational gardens. Food trucks will be on hand as well.
Admission is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The address is 3640 Dam Neck Road.
