You don’t have to go to the coast to find fun and adventure on the water! When you stay at Rio Bonito, you have many options for water-based activity. One of the biggest areas to experience all the Hill Country has to offer is nearby Lake Georgetown. This natural beauty is the site of several parks and recreational areas, making it a must see part of your trip.

Lake Georgetown spans over 1200 acres, giving new meaning to the saying “Everything is Bigger in Texas!” On the east side of the lake, Jim Hogg Park and Cedar Breaks Park, hug the main shoreline. On the west side you’ll find Sawyer Park. If you’re looking for something a little removed from the main activity, Twin Springs Preserve and Walnut Spring Park are slightly north of the lake and are disconnected from it. The area offers all kinds of water-based activity, such as boating, skiing, and fishing. Want to keep the ground under your feet? The lake boasts sixteen miles of hiking trails to explore.

You can find additional information, such as each park’s hours and exact maps of the area, on the official website here.
